The Urban Development Institute (UDI) is supportive of the Metro Vancouver transportation vision announced by the Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation.
The Mayor’s Council has provided a comprehensive and balanced vision that meets the needs of Metro Vancouver for the next thirty years. The proposed investments will result in shorter commute times, and two-thirds of the region’s population being located within walking distance of frequent transit.
UDI has played an active role in advocating for better transportation and for coordinated land use planning to occur near future rapid transit investments.
“The vision represents a step forward in the right direction, with social, economic and environmental benefits for our region, said UDI President and CEO, Anne McMullin. “The Institute looks forward to working with governments, TransLink and stakeholders on potential funding mechanisms.”
As a partner is community building for over forty years, UDI recognizes the importance of an effective and integrated transportation network.
The Urban Development Institute’s mandate is to promote wise and efficient land use, good planning, and progressive development practices that support sustainable development. The real estate development industry in BC generates $35 billion worth of economic activity and over 220,000 jobs for the Province each year.
